India: PM Modi says sorry, announces repeal of three farm laws

Saying ‘sorry’ to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday declared the annulment of the three petulant homestead laws against which ranchers, basically from Punjab and Haryana, have been fighting at the lines of Delhi for almost a year.

The Prime Minister picked the event of Guru Nanak Jayanti to declare the annulment of the three laws, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.

Since November 26, 2020, ranchers, generally from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, have been fighting at Delhis borders requesting the cancelation of the laws.
