The polychrome clay from Izúcar de Matamoros is considered a Cultural Heritage of the state of Puebla, which is why master craftsmen seek to keep this craft full of history current.
Currently there are 18 workshops in that municipality of the Mixteca Poblana, and in each one at least seven people work, for which more than 126 families depend on this craft.
